Video Information
The Cobb County Magistrate Court is pleased to make available through our Web site an informative video presentation developed for use by Magistrate Courts throughout the State of Georgia. The purpose of the video is to provide information regarding the Court’s function, however, because the presentation was prepared for use by Courts across the state, two pieces of information contained within do not apply to the Cobb County Magistrate Court. Video
Please review the exceptions noted below:
First, the presentation states that magistrate judges are not required to be members of the bar. Cobb County Magistrate Judges are in fact required to be members of the bar. Secondly, the presentation addresses an opening and closing statement in regards to matters handled in Small Claims Court. Due to the manner in which these types of cases are presented, as well as to the volume of cases presented in this Court, participants are encouraged to present the evidence in their case without offering an opening or closing statement. At the conclusion of the presentation of evidence, the Court will address any remaining issues. A magistrate judge absent a jury decides these cases.
We hope this video presentation provides you with valuable information as you begin your process through the Cobb County Magistrate Court.
